This semester (Fall 07) has been, literally, unbelievable in many ways; but before I begin, I must say, it happened to follow one of the most incredible and memorable summers I have ever experienced – and I thank God for it! For without His grace, guidance, and love - I would not be here today. His tender mercies never letting up – have been a constant reminder of how very fortunate we all are. I know I don’t deserve anything I have, and there is nothing I can do to ever earn what has been given to me. That being said – I want to express my profound hope, to you the reader, that this blog may be an inspiration for you. By keeping you informed – I hope to bridge the deepening gap of separation that we all feel when being far from home – far from the people we love and know – and submersed into the unknown.
This semester followed one of the most incredible and memorable summers I have ever experienced. Not everything was perfect this summer. In fact, there were times of great sadness and loss – but there were also times of great joy and hope-fulfilled.
I met some of the most amazing people – and when I think about them, I am still inspired by their wisdom, their fortitude, and their inner and outer beauty. They have contributed, whether they knew it or not, to my life – they have helped me become a better man and a better friend. They know who they are – and I thank them for their love, their prayers, and their unending support. And though some of them are far from me now – their impact and our times together will not be forgotten.
In fact, close to the end of the summer I met someone very special – and this person re-ignited a vociferous fire inside me that I thought had departed – or in the least, was leaving me. This person inspired and lifted me up with as little as our shared company and our laughter. The times and nights we spent together were exciting, fun, and amazing - in many ways, I have never felt more alive.
…and before I realized it – classes had begun…
This semester, I had the unique opportunity to work with many fascinating and creative people who have had a profound impact on my life. These colleagues of mine helped to open my eyes toward the incredible opportunities that were sitting before me. One of these opportunities was the Agricultural and Natural Resources Policy Internship Program (ANRP) (http://agintern.tamu.edu/) which is sponsored by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (COALS). This program sends Texas A&M students to Washington D.C. where they will intern with members of Congress for a semester.
I will be driving up to DC sometime in the beginning of January. Currently, I am working hard on my final class projects and papers of this semester, and in the mean time, I am getting things ready for Washington D.C. This Texas Aggie is going to DC!
